CAS Governance & Leadership Conference 2013, London, 6th November

Inspiring you to make change happen.....
Wednesday 6 November 2013, 9.30am – 4pm

As voluntary & community organisations we are constantly being asked to make tough choices, but we must also have a clear focus on the future as well as the ‘here & now’. Looking beyond today, leaders require insight, influence, and drive to succeed in a fluid and challenging operating environment.

This is why this year’s CAS Governance and Leadership Conference 2013: Inspiring you to make change happen, is looking to the future and asking you, the leaders, to ask yourselves, How effective is our organisation? And What can we do make our organisations more effective?

5 Reasons Why You Should Attend
 1. Mary Marsh, Founding Director, Clore Social Leadership Programme will explore how  boards can either drive forward   change or keep it parked in the garage. Drawing upon a wealth of experience, Mary Marsh will illuminate how boards can be proactive in their decision making and how they can best equip themselves to deal with change in the morning plenary session asking, Have you stayed too long?

2. You will have the opportunity to attend 2 out of the 4 expert led workshops throughout the day:
a)    Nick Wilson-Young will help you to ‘scan the horizon’ and provide handy hints and tips enabling you to Prepare for the Future?
b)     Oonagh Smyth will take you safely through risk analysis and the tools you can use to manage risk in Don’t be frightened of risk, just manage it!
c)    Graham Collins promises to de-mystify the trustees’ role in raising funds in How can trustees play the Income Generation Game?
d)    Anne Moynihan will lead you through the essentials of creating the right sort of change in How you can influence change in your organisation.

 3. The afternoon plenary session will discuss, Has the charity structure had its day? Our distinguished panel consisting of Belinda Pratten, Elizabeth Balgobin and Claudine Reid MBE, will apply their expert knowledge to address this increasingly asked question and outline alternative approaches and legal structures.

4. With around 100 delegates expected there will be plenty of opportunity to network, make connections and find inspiration.

5. A CAS stall will provide information for the sector about CAS and other organisations as well as places to leave your thoughts and ideas about the sector as a whole, what you would like to see CAS doing to support you and much more. And as if that is not enough you will of course receive a CAS pen and bag!
(and an extra reason…there will be a drinks reception to follow, where you can mingle with other delegates and CAS staff)

Who should attend?
The Conference is open to everyone, but will be of particular interest to trustees/board members/management committee members, founders, directors, senior management and anyone supporting governance.
So book your place now to have your say about the sector, share inspiring stories and find out more about how to support your organisation to excel in the future not just survive.
