Model Job Description and Person Specification Series: Week 1 - Trustee

Prospectus, recruitment consultancy specialists working exclusively with the not for profit sector, are supporting Trustees' Week this year. Finding and recruiting the right people for your charity board can be problematic, and charities often aren't aware of the wealth of guidance available to them. The success of any organisation, regardless of its size, is down to the way it is governed and led, and the role of a trustee, chair or treasurer holds great responsibility. Charities must take trustee recruitment as seriously as staff recruitment, and look beyond their immediate networks and reach out to a wide group of people as potential trustees.

Prospectus have provided model job descriptions and person specifications for charities to use as resources when hiring chairs, trustees and treasurers. They can be used as a template and clearly outline the statutory duties of each role, and the kind of knowledge and experience the candidate should hold.

Over the next three weeks, these documents will be rolled out in a series. This week's instalment is for the role of a trustee.

So, charities: download the models, use them, and be inspired to cast your recruiment net wider!
