Clare Laxton's story...

Clare Laxton is trustee of Changemakers Foundation, a charity that works with young people to unlock their leadership potential.

She says:
The best thing about being a trustee is meeting so many people that are passionate about making a difference. I really love meeting the young people that Changemakers works with because it just brings home what a difference the charity makes to people’s lives.

“I am passionate about empowering young people to get involved in leadership and becoming leaders and really shocked that they are so little represented in leadership roles in the UK, for example the mean age of a trustee is 57 and only 2.1% of trustees are under 30.

“I would say to any young people that are considering becoming trustees – don’t be scared or put off by a 'lack of experience' and instead think about the fresh ideas and innovation and different perspective you can bring to a trustee board.”
