This session organised by Voscur, a Council for Voluntary Service, complements 'Why am I on the committee?' and looks in greater detail at how Trustees can be more effective in their role.
The session covers:
Governance and what it means in practice
Issues around the management and governance split
How to hold effective meetings
Risk and liabilities
How to make the most of trustees' talent
By the end of this session you will be able to take back more information and an action plan to your organisation.
Who's it for? This course is for anyone who needs to understand a bit more about their role on the board and who wants to be more effective. Ideally, you should have attended 'Why am I on the committee?' or 'Roles and Responsibilities 1' to attend this training.

Trustees are the people in charge of a charity. They play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to make important decisions about the charity's work. Trustees' Week is an annual event to showcase the great work that trustees do and highlight opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference. Trustees’ Week 2015 is 2–8 November, and is being officially launched at the NCVO / BWB Trustee Conference on 2 November 2015.
