Event round-up - Trustee management in tough times, Newcastle

An event held by Reach and Newcastle Council for Voluntary Service

Trustee management in tough times was certainly felt to be an apt title given the difficulties facing so many of the organisations attending this event in Newcastle. Sally Young, NCVS Chief Executive, gave a thought provoking review of the sector but ultimately inspired attendees with the potential opportunities the current environment offers, if they are smart enough to take advantage of them. Victoria Burnett, Company Secretary of Scope UK, had everyone thinking about how working as a team can make a board more effective and better able to guide organisations through the storms ahead. Sarah King, Reach’s Chief executive, challenged attendees with some new ideas about how to involve all of their board in fundraising and get the best out of all the different skills they might have access to. Finally Reach and NCVS offered some advice on the best means of recruiting the great trustees the organisations need.

With plenty of contribution and feedback from an impressively committed audience, everyone learnt a considerable amount about how to lead their organisations towards the secure future they deserve.
