1plus1equals, a London based charity that supports orphans and disadvantaged children in Sri Lanka celebrated Trustees’ Week with a coffee morning in Harrow. The organisation aims to improve young people’s life opportunities by improving their access to education.
The coffee 'morning' ended-up lasting all day and was well attended by its trustees and supporters. Mr Manoharan Dharmarajah, Councillor for Harrow was the special guest of honour. Mr Dharmarajah was impressed with the scope of the work 1plus1equals had undertaken to date.
In his opening speech, the Honorary President, Mr Ranjan Herath, of Harrow Solicitors, commended the commitment of the charity’s founder and chairperson, Ms Manike Maliyadde. He praised her efforts in helping enrich the lives of the orphans and young people in Sri Lanka.
During the celebrations, there were displays of some of the projects 1plus1equals had embarked on in Sri Lanka and guests were entertained with drinks and light refreshments. Some of the attendees became committee members of 1plus1equals, and agreed to support the charity.
