This session is for you if you are:
· New to trusteeship or being on a board
· Thinking about taking up a trustee or committee role
· A trustee who would like to refresh, ‘top-up' or double check your knowledge of basic governance or just spend an evening going back to basics

· What ‘governance' means
· Who is responsible for it and
· What responsibilities, duties and liabilities they have
· What voluntary organisations are
· How they are structured
· What makes a charity a charity
· How this relates to ‘trusteeship'
· Signposting to a range of tools, information sources and other resources that all voluntary leaders should know about

Trustees are the people in charge of a charity. They play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to make important decisions about the charity's work. Trustees' Week is an annual event to showcase the great work that trustees do and highlight opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference. Trustees’ Week 2015 is 2–8 November, and is being officially launched at the NCVO / BWB Trustee Conference on 2 November 2015.
